Computational Life Sciences Research Scientist

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Research Scientist to join its Life Sciences team, combining deep computational biology expertise with cutting‑edge AI. The role will drive AI‑accelerated biological discoveries by building large‑scale analysis pipelines and collaborating closely with experimental biologists.

Key responsibilities

• Build, run, and maintain analysis pipelines for sequence analysis at petabyte scale, structural bioinformatics, phylogenetic and comparative genomics, high‑throughput functional screens, and biological sequence modeling.
• Partner directly with experimental biologists to design experiments, generate high‑quality data, and provide rapid analysis to inform subsequent experiments.
• Generate and prioritize hypotheses using literature, curated knowledge bases, and primary data for experimental follow‑up.
• Stand up and maintain computational infrastructure: data ingestion, workflow orchestration, internal databases, and interfaces accessible to researchers and AI agents.
• Use Claude and internal agent frameworks in daily work, supplying evaluations, datasets, and concrete failure cases to model‑improvement teams.
• Conduct ad‑hoc analyses across projects as scientific needs evolve.

Required profile

• Proven experience in computational biology and large‑scale data analysis.
• Strong track record of collaborating with experimental biologists to drive research.
• Ability to design and execute analyses that inform iterative experimental cycles.
• Familiarity with AI/ML models and willingness to integrate them into biological workflows.
