Compliance Counsel – Conflicts & Risk Management (Remote, Houston)

About the role

Our client, a leading international law firm in Houston, is seeking an experienced Compliance Counsel to join the General Counsel’s Office. This fully remote position supports firm‑wide legal and ethical compliance, focusing on conflicts of interest and risk management for new clients, matters, and lateral hires.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate conflicts of interest for new business engagements and lateral hires.
• Conduct complex conflicts analyses and provide risk‑based recommendations.
• Draft conflict waivers, ethical screens, and related documentation.
• Support client and matter intake processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with attorneys and business teams to resolve conflict issues.
• Maintain accurate conflicts records and ensure data integrity.
• Advise on legal ethics and professional responsibility rules across jurisdictions.

Required profile

• J.D. degree with active U.S. bar membership.
• 5–8 years of legal experience, preferably in a large law firm or comparable environment.
• Direct, full‑time conflicts experience at a large law firm is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Rules of Professional Conduct in multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience in an AMLaw 200 or similarly complex firm is strongly preferred.
