Community Engagement Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a solutions‑driven Community Engagement Coordinator to lead its intern and volunteer programs. You will work closely with staff to recruit, train, and support volunteers, interns, and mentors, ensuring a trauma‑informed approach to service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an active, professionally managed intern and volunteer program across the organization.
• Collaborate with program managers to define and post assignment descriptions that meet staff and client needs.
• Organize three recruitment cycles per year and manage the full application and interview process.
• Oversee onboarding and exit procedures for interns and volunteers, including background checks, account setup/closure, and orientation sessions.
• Develop and deliver trauma‑informed training materials for volunteers, interns, and mentors.
• Conduct outreach, information sessions, and regular communication to attract and retain volunteers.
• Maintain accurate volunteer and intern records in the central database and manage monthly timesheets.
• Build and sustain relationships with local universities and community partners.

Required profile

• Passionate change‑maker with a commitment to humanitarian work.
• Strong interpersonal skills to liaise between staff, volunteers, and external partners.
• Ability to manage multiple recruitment cycles and onboarding processes.
• Experience working in a trauma‑informed environment is preferred.
