Communications Specialist

About the role

The Cornell AI Initiative is seeking a Communications Specialist to lead integrated communications efforts that showcase Cornell’s AI research, education, and outreach. Working closely with the Executive Director for AI Communications, you will craft compelling stories and manage digital platforms to raise the initiative’s visibility across internal and external audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the initiative’s website (ai.cornell.edu), ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with strategic priorities.
• Develop and execute amplification strategies across owned digital channels, promoting research, events, and faculty expertise.
• Create and edit content for web pages, newsletters, social media, and event communications.
• Coordinate logistics and communications support for Thought Summits and sponsored events.
• Collaborate with University Relations and campus units to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate complex AI topics for diverse audiences.
• Experience managing digital content and coordinating multi‑channel communication campaigns.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment and support an inclusive workplace culture.

Required skills

What we offer

• Competitive annual salary between $65,000 and $70,000.
• Primary work location on Cornell’s Ithaca campus with occasional remote work.
