About the role

We are seeking a Communications Specialist to shape the external voice of a newly launched, mission‑driven initiative that modernizes education finance data infrastructure in the United States. The role blends content strategy, digital communications, and audience development in a highly analytical, purpose‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the development and execution of the organization’s communications function, ensuring clarity, consistency, and discoverability across all channels.
• Lead organic audience growth across digital platforms and maintain targeted distribution lists for researchers, policymakers, analysts, and education leaders.
• Develop and manage an editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities and technical subject matter.
• Optimize content for traditional search engines and AI‑driven discovery tools, including generative search environments.
• Create and maintain editorial standards, style guides, and content frameworks to sustain a credible voice.
• Support thought‑leadership initiatives through digital publishing and stakeholder engagement.
• Translate complex technical and data‑driven material into accessible messaging for diverse audiences.
• Monitor performance metrics and continuously improve reach, engagement, and visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in modern digital communications and a strong grasp of content ecosystems across platforms.
• Background in communications, content strategy, journalism, marketing, or a related field with a digital‑first focus.
• Demonstrated ability to build and grow organic audiences through multi‑channel strategies.
• Working knowledge of SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO).
• Excellent writing, editing, and editorial judgment emphasizing clarity and consistency.
