Communications and Design Intern

About the role

The United Nations Department of Operational Support is seeking a Communications and Design Intern to strengthen its external presence and visual identity. This 3‑6 month internship, based in New York, will focus on LinkedIn content creation, analytics, and design support for a range of internal and external communications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow DOS’s official LinkedIn profile, including branding and content strategy.
• Curate, create and design LinkedIn posts, articles, videos and other materials that highlight DOS’s mission and achievements.
• Monitor LinkedIn analytics and deliver performance insights.
• Design identity assets that reflect corporate vision, mission and values.
• Prepare copy and visual content for briefings, presentations, fact sheets and other communication products.
• Assist in website layout, content and visual design.
• Provide design support for both print and digital deliverables.
• Contribute to broader communication strategies and campaigns.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (or graduated within the last five years).
• Studies in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Web Design, Graphic Design, Data Visualization, Marketing or related fields.
• Computer literate with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong interest in United Nations work and international operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with graphic‑design tools such as Adobe InDesign or Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
