Commissioning Project Manager (On‑Site – Arlington, VA)

About the role

The Commissioning Project Manager will support Chinook’s clients by coordinating and delivering commissioning services throughout the facility lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, warranty, and operations. This on‑site position in Arlington, VA requires technical expertise, proactive problem‑solving, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Execute commissioning, energy management and facilities management services for multiple concurrent projects.
• Prepare commissioning plans, specifications, checklists, functional performance tests and reports; conduct design, submittal and O&M manual reviews.
• Conduct site observations, witness functional performance testing, and resolve coordination issues impacting equipment start‑up.
• Facilitate transition of systems to operations, develop maintenance programs, and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Prepare project estimates, schedules, work plans, status reports and presentations; ensure compliance with SOPs and contract documents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or 13 years related experience in lieu of degree).
• Minimum 8 years commissioning experience with systems such as HVAC, lighting, power distribution, UPS and emergency power.
• At least 4 years of people‑management experience and 2 years managing commissioning or engineering projects.
• Valid U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• Commissioning certifications (CxA, CCP, CBCP or equivalent).
• Knowledge of commissioning standards (LEED, ASHRAe, BCA, ACG, GSA) and ASHRAE energy audits.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project and scheduling software.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to travel to work sites.
