Commercial Truck Driver Part‑time Instructor

About the role

Columbus Technical College is seeking a qualified professional to join its faculty as a Part‑time Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) Instructor. You will deliver classroom, range, and behind‑the‑wheel training to students preparing for a Commercial Driver’s License and a career in commercial transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality instruction in a classroom, driving range, and on‑road environments.
• Teach vehicle inspection, basic vehicle systems, safe operating procedures, defensive driving, and trip planning.
• Evaluate student progress against course objectives and industry standards.
• Deliver instruction at the college, designated training facilities, or other locations within the service area.
• Adapt teaching schedules to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in commercial motor vehicle operations and CDL training.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and defensive driving practices.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull for several continuous hours and to work around trucks and trailers.
• Willingness to travel within Muscogee, Stewart, Quitman, Chattahoochee, Harris, and Talbot counties.
• Part‑time, exempt status with flexibility to teach on‑ or off‑campus.
