Commercial HVAC Service Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing service team in Columbia, SC. The role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of complex commercial HVAC systems while delivering top‑tier customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment, including DX systems up to 100 tons, packaged water‑cooled units up to 150 tons, water‑source heat pumps, and CRAC units with humidifiers.
• Work on gas‑fired and electric heating systems up to 150 tons, pneumatic, electronic, and DDC control systems, air handling units, and VAV systems.
• Perform equipment startups, verify operation, monitor performance via gauges and instrumentation, and adjust valves, pumps, and controls for optimal efficiency.
• Execute preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, replacing fan belts, cleaning ductwork, and installing electrical wiring.
• Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate job status with dispatch throughout the day.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED, or trade school certification.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (required).
• Minimum four years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities on commercial equipment and controls.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation for emergency service.

Required skills

• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
• Experience with DX systems, packaged water‑cooled AC, water‑source heat pumps, and CRAC units
• Knowledge of gas‑fired and electric heating systems up to 150 tons
• Proficiency in pneumatic, electronic, and DDC control systems
• Ability to install electrical wiring and connect HVAC components
