Coding Educator (Remote)

About the role

R1 RCM is looking for a Coding Educator to support its coding teams with subject matter expertise on coding guidelines and regulations across clinical specialties. You will plan, organize, direct and coordinate education and training for coding teams. The position is remote and US-based.

Key responsibilities

• Audit, educate and monitor coders on E/M levels, procedures and diagnosis coding, including CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS, and support provider education as needed
• Work with Coding Leadership to identify areas where focused education is needed for production coders
• Develop, administer, implement and update focused and continuing coding education programs and materials for coding associates
• Ensure auditor production standards, QA requirements and compliance with auditing philosophies and guidelines are met
• Review and give constructive feedback to help develop instructional materials, including course plans, objectives and evaluation tools
• Train onshore and offshore coders on CPT/ICD-10 and HCPCS

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Certification such as CCS, COC, RHIA, RHIT or CPC
• Prior experience in production coding, auditing, coder education and training, or coding leadership
• Specialty experience in ancillary, surgical, emergency medicine or E/M coding

Required skills

• Effective verbal and written communication, able to give guidance and corrective action in a motivating way
• Use of Microsoft Office Suite to prepare and present training materials, communicate feedback and report and analyze data

The base pay range for this US-based position is $28.24 - $40.21 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education.
