Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor (W‑2 or 1099)

About the role

We are seeking a licensed Co‑Occurring Disorder Counselor to deliver outpatient substance use and mental health treatment to clients primarily residing in community‑based group homes in Baltimore. The position can be engaged as a W‑2 employee or as a 1099 independent contractor, allowing candidates to choose the arrangement that best fits their professional goals.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate individual, family and group counseling sessions, both in‑person at designated community locations and via telehealth.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and document all services in accordance with clinical model fidelity and timelines.
• Provide evidence‑based substance use disorder and mental health interventions to clients with co‑occurring conditions.
• Coordinate care across two partner organizations—Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center and Community Wellness Outpatient Mental Health Center—ensuring compliance with each entity’s requirements.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Co‑Occurring Disorder Counselor (or equivalent substance abuse/mental health license) in the state of Maryland.
• Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week, split between the two affiliated programs.
• Experience delivering outpatient services in community‑based settings, including group homes and telehealth platforms.
• Willingness to operate under either W‑2 employment or 1099 contractor status and meet the associated classification criteria.
