Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor (Level 4) – Choose W‑2 or 1099

About the role

The Co‑Occurring Disorder Counselor provides integrated substance‑use and mental‑health treatment to adults living in community‑based group homes and outpatient settings in Baltimore. Candidates may select either a W‑2 employee arrangement or a 1099 independent‑contractor model.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence‑based substance‑use and mental‑health treatment to clients with co‑occurring disorders in community‑based group homes, office settings or via telehealth.
• Facilitate individual, family and group counseling sessions, conduct diagnostic assessments, develop and update treatment plans, and document all encounters in the ICANotes electronic health record.
• Coordinate care with program staff, external providers (e.g., primary care, housing, probation) and ensure compliance with COMAR, CARF and Medicaid regulations.
• Submit detailed invoices for services rendered, attend clinical supervision, fidelity reviews and required continuing‑education training.

Required profile

• Current professional license to practice as a substance‑use or mental‑health counselor in Maryland.
• Experience providing co‑occurring disorder treatment in outpatient or community settings.
• Willingness to work approximately 40 hours per week across two affiliated agencies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the ICANotes electronic health record system.
