Co-Occurring Disorder Counselor (1099/W-2 Options)

About the role

This position offers the choice of a W-2 employee arrangement or an independent‑contractor (1099) engagement. The counselor will provide co‑occurring disorder services to clients primarily residing in community‑based group homes, with additional visits to office locations or via telehealth as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and facilitate individual, family, and group counseling sessions for clients with co‑occurring mental health and substance‑use disorders.
• Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain timely documentation.
• Deliver evidence‑based substance‑use disorder treatment under Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center and mental‑health treatment under Community Wellness Outpatient Mental Health Center.
• Manage a caseload of six Category A clients and four additional clients across designated community sites.
• Coordinate care across two organizations while adhering to each entity’s compliance and payment processes.

Required profile

• Current, valid license to practice as a substance‑use or mental‑health counselor in Maryland.
• Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week across both onsite and telehealth settings.
• Willingness to meet independent‑contractor classification requirements if selecting the 1099 option.
