About the role
The CMM Applications Specialist develops, validates, and maintains Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs used to inspect components throughout the manufacturing process. This role acts as a technical resource for metrology solutions, supporting product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and maintain CMM inspection programs and measurement routines.
- Manage program revisions and keep inspection software documentation and databases up to date.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, calibration, and performance verification for CMM equipment.
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams on product development, process validation, and production inspection.
- Train inspectors, machinists, and other personnel on CMM operation and automated inspection processes.
- Improve inspection efficiency through automation and process‑optimization initiatives.
- Investigate dimensional non‑conformances and generate inspection reports as needed.
- Support supplier‑quality activities, including inspection of supplied components and review of measurement data.
- Maintain compliance with Quality System requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Assist with continuous‑improvement projects and provide technical metrology expertise across the organization.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Metrology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience delivering metrology solutions in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience performing dimensional inspection and measurement system analysis.
- Experience supporting quality and manufacturing operations (preferred).
Required skills
- Proficiency with CMM programming software and automated inspection systems.
- Strong understanding of metrology principles and dimensional analysis.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and inspection processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard PC applications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including coordinate geometry and trigonometry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
