Clinical Toxicologist I – Entry Level

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking an entry‑level Clinical Toxicologist I to join its toxicology laboratory. The incumbent will analyze clinical case samples, operate advanced mass‑spectrometry instruments, and ensure accurate reporting of results.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex testing on patient samples using LC‑MS/MS, GC‑MS, HS‑GC‑FID, and GC‑MS/MS.
• Prepare samples with solid‑phase extraction (SPE) and liquid‑liquid extraction (LLE) techniques.
• Review patient results and quality‑control (QC) data for accuracy.
• Operate instrument software such as ChemStation® and MassHunter®.
• Maintain instrumentation, perform routine upkeep, and assist with laboratory QA/QC functions.
• Document findings using Sunquest, UChart, and Microsoft Office tools.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel License – Clinical Chemistry specialty.
• No prior professional experience required; entry‑level candidates are welcome.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to solve analytical problems.
