About the role
The Clinical Pharmacist I provides comprehensive pharmacy services in a hospital setting, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient medication therapy for patients. This full‑time position involves both operational dispensing duties and direct clinical care across multiple care areas.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician requests, following established policies.
- Interpret verbal and written orders and accurately enter them into the computerized medication record.
- Compound sterile and non‑sterile products, including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
- Issue controlled substances and maintain required documentation.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and verify their daily activities.
- Provide ambulatory pharmaceutical care, including anticoagulation management and medication reconciliation.
- Monitor drug therapy for interactions, contraindications, and dosing appropriateness.
- Participate in pharmacokinetics consults, renal dosing, and adverse drug reaction reporting.
- Support formulary management and promote rational drug selection.
- Deliver drug information and education to staff, patients, and families.
- Engage in quality‑improvement and medication‑use review activities.
Required profile
- Current, active pharmacist license.
- Completion of required continuing education and maintenance of licensure records.
- Ability to meet OneCHRISTUS competency expectations (Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders).
- Attendance at staff meetings and completion of competency assessments.
Required skills
- Compounding of sterile and non‑sterile pharmaceuticals.
