About the role

The Pathology Department at the University of Miami seeks a Clinical Laboratory Assistant II to support routine laboratory operations. This position assists technical and professional staff in both clinical and research settings, ensuring timely and accurate handling of patient specimens.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, handle, and accession patient samples for laboratory testing.
• Transport specimens and communicate test results promptly.
• Maintain laboratory files, logs, and inventory levels in an organized manner.
• Perform specimen processing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Generate and forward patient reports to appropriate departments or physicians.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians, and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Serve as lead or backup when the supervisor is unavailable.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately.
• Capability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
