Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Laboratories Department is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3 to support routine operations in both clinical and research labs. This position provides essential assistance to technical and professional staff, ensuring accurate specimen handling and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient samples for laboratory testing.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain laboratory logs, files, and inventory levels in accordance with protocols.
• Generate and forward patient reports to appropriate physicians or departments.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians, and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Serve as lead or backup when the supervisor is unavailable.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work under pressure.
• Capability to handle confidential patient information with discretion.
• Willingness to work evenings as needed.
