Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3

About the role

The University of Miami Health System’s Pathology Department is looking for a full‑time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3 to provide routine support in the UTower Hospital laboratory. The incumbent will assist technical and professional staff with specimen handling, data entry, inventory control and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient specimens for testing.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting and volume measurement.
• Maintain laboratory files, logs and inventory levels in an organized manner.
• Generate and forward patient reports to the appropriate departments or physicians.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Participate in performance‑improvement initiatives and keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Serve as lead or backup when the supervisor is unavailable.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Required skills

• Accurate data‑entry with minimal errors.
