Clinical Laboratory Assistant 2 – Full‑time

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pathology is seeking a full‑time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 2 to support routine operations in both clinical and research laboratories. The role involves handling patient specimens, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring smooth laboratory workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient samples for testing.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain laboratory files, logs, and inventory levels according to protocol.
• Generate and forward patient reports to appropriate departments or physicians.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians, and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Support performance‑improvement initiatives and keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Serve as lead or backup when the supervisor is unavailable.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification, or license.
• Minimum two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
