About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pathology is seeking a full‑time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 1 to support routine operations in both clinical and research laboratories. The role provides essential assistance to technical and professional staff, ensuring accurate specimen handling and laboratory workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, handle, and accession patient samples for laboratory testing.
• Transport specimens and communicate test results promptly.
• Maintain laboratory files, logs, and a clean work area.
• Perform specimen processing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels according to protocol.
• Participate in departmental performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification, or license may be considered.
• Learning agility to adopt new procedures, technologies, and protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
