Clinical Interpreter

About the role

The Clinical Interpreter provides professional language interpretation services for patients, families, and clinical staff at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This role ensures clear communication during medical encounters, supporting high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver real‑time oral interpretation for clinical appointments, procedures, and consultations.
• Translate written medical documents, discharge instructions, and patient education materials.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and institutional policies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure accurate terminology usage.
• Document interpretation activities and maintain interpreter logs as required.

Required profile

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken by the patient population.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows.
• Certification as a medical interpreter (e.g., CCHI, NAATI) preferred.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Ability to work on‑site at the Little Rock campus.
