Clinical Instructor – Orthopedic Spine

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Clinical Instructor for its Orthopaedic Surgery Spine Fellowship. This one‑year, faculty‑level position blends direct patient care, education of residents and medical students, and participation in research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and provide non‑surgical treatment for patients with orthopedic spine conditions.
• Perform and teach essential spine surgery procedures under the Program Director’s supervision.
• Deliver clinical instruction, supervise residents, interns, and medical students, and serve as a role model.
• Document patient encounters accurately and promptly.
• Participate in recruitment for the fellowship and contribute to division educational activities.
• Engage in clinical or basic‑science research projects.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree with successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
• State of Florida medical trainee licensure.
• Strong knowledge of primary and revision spine surgery principles.
• Ability to prepare and present educational talks on assigned spine topics.
• Commitment to ethical patient care, cultural sensitivity, and teamwork.
