Clinical Instructor – Ophthalmology (Faculty)

About the role

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute seeks a Clinical Instructor to join its Ophthalmology department. This full‑time faculty position involves direct patient care, teaching ophthalmology residents and fellows, and contributing to the institute’s renowned research and clinical mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide extensive direct patient care in clinic and operating room settings.
• Participate in night and weekend on‑call rotations.
• Staff residents in clinics and surgical cases.
• Teach and train residents and junior physicians in the Ophthalmic Training Program.
• Supervise and mentor junior residents and medical students during clinical tasks.
• Assume appropriate administrative duties related to the training program.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree with successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited ophthalmology residency in the United States.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Valid, unrestricted Florida medical license (or Medical Faculty Certificate).
• DEA certification.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a willingness to take on administrative responsibilities.
