Clinical Engineering & Human Factors Intern – Robotics R&D

About the role

Join Johnson & Johnson’s Clinical Engineering team in Santa Clara to support the development of innovative medical devices and robotic surgical systems. This internship provides hands‑on experience in defining, developing, and evaluating technologies that improve patient care and surgical workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Research disease states, treatment options, patient pathways, surgical workflows, and competitive technologies to inform product development.
• Support user research, usability evaluations, and product assessments in simulated or clinical environments.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from studies to generate insights and communicate findings.
• Assist with human factors, clinical, and risk management documentation, including traceability and use‑related risk assessments.
• Develop clinical workflow diagrams, task analyses, and use scenarios to support validation activities.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university program (undergraduate sophomore or higher, master’s, or PhD).
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Available full‑time for the internship term (June 1 – August 21 2027 or June 21 – September 10 2027).
• Permanent US work authorization without future sponsorship needs.

Required skills
