Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (Remote)

About the role

The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist works remotely to enhance the accuracy, specificity, and completeness of clinical documentation. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and coding staff to ensure proper DRG assignment, severity of illness, and risk of mortality reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records for diagnosis clarification, DRG accuracy, and documentation completeness.
• Issue queries to providers following AHIMA and CorroHealth guidelines.
• Analyze documentation trends, identify root causes of errors, and recommend improvements.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards for each project.
• Stay current with coding and clinical documentation improvement policies.

Required profile

• Current RN license (BSN preferred).
• CCDS or CDIP certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
• Demonstrated experience in CDI and familiarity with DRG payer issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
