Clinical Dietitian (Level 2)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Human Genetics Department is seeking a full‑time Clinical Dietitian 2 to provide medical nutrition therapy on‑site in Miami, FL. The role focuses on creating individualized nutrition plans for pediatric and adult patients with inborn errors of metabolism and other genetic disorders, while supporting the broader clinical team.

Key responsibilities

• Meet directly with patients to assess nutritional needs and develop personalized nutrition care plans.
• Perform nutrition assessments, anthropometric measurements, diet analysis, and menu development.
• Administer medical nutrition therapy and adjust meal plans based on patient response.
• Collaborate with physicians, genetics staff, and food service operations to ensure dietary standards and cultural/religious considerations are met.
• Document care accurately in the Electronic Medical Record and communicate updates to the clinical team.
• Provide education to patients, families, and medical students about nutrition therapy and disease management.
• Respond to patient inquiries, triage urgency for physician evaluation, and support family coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases.
• Participate in research initiatives to improve nutrition programs and educational materials.

Required profile

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential and state licensure.
• Experience providing nutrition care to pediatric and adult patients, preferably with metabolic or genetic disorders.
• Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education.
• Ability to document thoroughly and adhere to university and unit policies.
