Clinical Dietitian – Level 1 (Hospital)

About the role

The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami is seeking a Clinical Dietitian (Level 1) to join its Diabetes Education Team. The role focuses on providing nutrition education, medical nutrition therapy, and individualized counseling to patients with diabetes and related conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus and inspect food to ensure compliance with dietary standards and portion restrictions.
• Assess patients' nutritional status and develop personalized nutrition care plans.
• Provide medical nutrition therapy and diabetes self‑management counseling in both individual and group settings.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient interactions accurately and timely, and contribute to educational material development.
• Address cultural, ethnic, and religious dietary needs and respond to patient inquiries.
• Support families in coping with acute and chronic phases of care.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition; master’s degree preferred.
• Current, valid Florida Dietitian license and active FL Registered Dietitian status.
• Certified Diabetes Educator or eligibility to sit for the exam within 24 months of hire.
• Minimum two years of relevant clinical nutrition experience.
