Clinic Assistant

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy is seeking a full‑time Clinic Assistant to support patient care operations in Miami, FL. The role involves a mix of clerical, administrative, and patient‑facing duties to ensure smooth clinic workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, complete, and process patient charts while maintaining accurate records.
• Transcribe doctors’ orders, verify chart completeness, and notify the healthcare team of any issues.
• Order and manage unit supplies, receive and distribute materials, and track inventory.
• Obtain laboratory and X‑ray reports, communicate results to physicians, and use IDX RIS/PACS to monitor patient arrivals.
• Greet patients, verify information, assist with gowning, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Handle telephone inquiries, report incidents, and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred).
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Commitment to university core values and ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IDX RIS/PACS and basic computer applications.
• Experience ordering lab work, scheduling admissions, and managing medical supplies.
