Classroom Assistant

About the role

The University of Miami’s Office of Graduate Studies is looking for a part‑time Classroom Assistant to work on‑site in Miami. You will support teachers in delivering instruction to a diverse group of children, fostering a kind and inquiry‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Present subject matter under teacher guidance using lectures, discussions, and supervised role‑playing.
• Assist with individual education programs and monitor student progress.
• Support students with emotional or behavioral challenges and help develop social skills.
• Help teachers with photocopying, record‑keeping, and classroom organization.
• Collaborate on lesson planning that aligns with the school’s philosophy and objectives.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning by applying varied teaching strategies.
• Supervise students throughout the school day in all areas.
• Follow university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required; willingness to learn.
• Strong learning agility and ability to adapt to new procedures.
• Team‑oriented mindset and effective communication skills.

• Basic proficiency with office software and standard computer applications.
