Claims Analyst - Complex Claims

About the role

Momentous Insurance, a Marsh McLennan Agency, is hiring a non-exempt Claims Analyst for its Complex Claims department in Van Nuys, California. The analyst develops and maintains client relationships by advising and advocating on claims matters, reviews claims to ensure they are properly set up and move toward closure, and keeps service teams informed. The role reports to the Complex Claims Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned claims independently and keep a computer-based task system and diary of status updates, including critical dates for setup, coverage position, adjuster assignment and defense counsel.
• Review and summarize coverage positions, including denials and reservations of rights, and recommend next steps for complex claims involving multiple carriers or layers of coverage.
• Report new claims promptly, establish claims files with tender documentation and adjuster contact information, and escalate issues when needed.
• Document internal files, build client and carrier relationships, and keep clients and internal associates informed of claim status.
• Notify producers and service teams of large or disputed claims and coordinate with claim liaisons from insurance carriers.

Required profile

• Four years of experience in a professional office setting directly related to the job.
• Bachelor's degree or advanced paralegal certificate highly desired.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; 15-20% travel, including 1-2 overnight trips per year.
• Ability to work at varying pace, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and work long hours occasionally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Skill in organizing resources and prioritizing.
• Clear oral and written communication.
