Civil Project Engineer

About the role

A mid-level Civil Project Engineer at EnviroScience, Inc. supports engineering work that adheres to environmental regulations and industry standards. The role develops sustainable solutions for stormwater systems, water and wastewater treatment, and distribution and collection systems for private and municipal clients, working closely with clients, engineers, surveyors and project managers. It is based in the Stow, Ohio office, with occasional overnight travel.

Key responsibilities

• Design and construct stormwater, water/wastewater treatment, and distribution and collection systems, including green infrastructure, sediment and erosion control, utility services, grading design and wastewater systems.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and SWMM, and prepare H&H reports on modeling results and regulatory compliance.
• Carry out feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for utility projects, and lead plan set development.
• Provide technical support on water resources or treatment issues to government agencies, estimate costs, develop specifications and prepare bid documents.
• Conduct water quality studies to identify pollutant sources.
• Prepare permit applications (EPA PTI, stormwater management plans, floodplain permits, NPDES permits) and ensure designs meet codes and regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients and other engineers to deliver projects on time, within scope and budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) license or E.I. with the ability to obtain P.E. within 12 months.
• At least 3 years of site/civil engineering experience.
• Ability to understand complex instructions and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Daily office attendance expected; remote work possible with manager approval.

Required skills

• Preferred: AutoCAD Civil 3D for stormwater and hydraulic design.
• Preferred: familiarity with GIS software and knowledge of ASCE, AWWA and EPA standards.
• Preferred: proficiency in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS or SWMM, and experience with grading, site design, green infrastructure and stormwater management.
