Civil Engineer 3

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Civil Engineer 3 to perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation and maintenance of electronic and mechanical equipment and systems. The engineer works as a member of a design, analysis or review team on complex assignments or as a lead on simpler ones.

Key responsibilities

• Perform design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision and act as lead on less complex tasks
• Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects
• Coordinate with engineering, logistics, financial and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
• Maintain a filing system or databases to track project status
• Develop and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
• Liaise with customers from quotation through design and test, including design reviews and technical working group meetings
• Conduct site visits and experimental investigations, analyse engineering problems and propose solutions
• Verify compliance with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
• Support technical proposals and comment on their content and level of effort

Required profile

• US citizen
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• At least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with good communication and analytical skills
• Position may require travel and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Preferred: professional engineering registration, master's degree in civil engineering, government or nuclear experience (DOD, DOE, NR)

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD with Civil 3D
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory codes and standards
• Working knowledge of commercially available hydraulic and hydrology software
• Expertise in designing site drainage and stormwater control systems
• Working knowledge of underground utility design
• Working knowledge of Excel and Word
• Ability to prepare civil engineering calculations and drawings
