Children's Legal Services Intern (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Children’s Legal Services (CLS) Legal Intern will support CLS attorneys in providing legal services to unaccompanied youth facing immigration removal. Working under attorney supervision, the intern will engage in research, client interaction, and case preparation for asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and other humanitarian relief applications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research to support asylum, SIJS, T and U visa applications.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for immigration court hearings and state custody/guardianship proceedings.
• Conduct client interviews, initial screenings, and follow‑up meetings.
• Draft client declarations and gather supporting evidence for immigration filings.
• Maintain up‑to‑date client notes, organize case files, and perform clerical administrative duties.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a law program or recent law graduate.
• Strong interest in immigration, child protection, and humanitarian law.
• Ability to work under supervision and handle confidential client information.
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
