Children Youth and Families (CYF) Caseworker

About the role

The Children Youth and Families (CYF) Caseworker position with Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services supports abused or neglected children and families. The role involves providing protective services, counseling, and case management from referral through closure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver protective and supportive services to children and families.
• Provide counseling to children, foster parents, adoptive parents, and families as needed.
• Participate in case conferencing, teaming, and crisis intervention.
• Develop and monitor family safety and self‑sufficiency plans.
• Present case facts and testimony in Children’s Court.
• Complete a ten‑week training curriculum combining classroom and fieldwork.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and apply casework policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to request clarification on mandates and apply training to real cases.
• Commitment to work with families from referral until case closure.
