Child Welfare Services Program Director

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family & Children Services, seeks a Program Director to lead Child Welfare Services in Columbus, Muscogee County. This senior position oversees policies, programs, and staff dedicated to protecting children and supporting families.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze program effectiveness and ensure outcome measures are met.
• Maintain agency compliance with documentation, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage budgets, and foster cooperative relationships with community partners and the county DFCS Board.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, discipline social services staff.
• Lead the delivery of public assistance, employability, and social services programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (social work, psychology, public administration, etc.).
• At least two years of experience managing subordinate supervisors in a human‑service delivery program or equivalent lower‑level experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple organizational levels and teams.

Required skills

• Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Experience with budget development and administration.
