Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor to lead a social services unit that provides investigative and comprehensive case management for child abuse or neglect in Washington, Wilkes County.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and plan the work of assigned staff, setting unit goals and regulating workloads.
• Conduct investigations, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare reports in compliance with state and federal laws.
• Coordinate and monitor children in out‑of‑home placements and in‑home interventions, ensuring timely actions for at‑risk clients.
• Develop case plans that utilize community resources, identify placement resources, and initiate legal processes for guardianship, protective services, placement, or adoption.
• Review, approve or disapprove casework performed by staff and maintain required documentation and reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and three years of case management experience, or one year of experience at a lower‑level Child Welfare Services Case Manager position.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel statewide.
• Pass standard agency testing protocol and pre‑employment background checks.

Required skills

• Experience with assessments, home evaluations, and case planning.
• Knowledge of child welfare laws, protective services procedures, and legal processes.
• Ability to compile records, prepare reports, and conduct follow‑up on client cases.
