Child Welfare Services Assistant – Baton Rouge

About the role

The Child Welfare Services Assistant provides essential transportation and hands‑on support to children, families, and professional staff within the East Baton Rouge Parish Child Welfare Office. This role helps ensure safe travel to appointments and supports caregivers in daily living tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Transport clients to visits with siblings, schools, clinics, doctors, and other identified needs.
• Maintain and update the schedule for client transportation and follow‑up visits.
• Care for assigned state vehicle(s), including upkeep and record‑keeping.
• Assist professional staff in delivering services and support.
• Teach parental caregivers practical home‑management skills such as housekeeping, budgeting, personal hygiene, and childcare when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• No prior experience or training required.
• Possession of a current valid driver’s license.
• Must not have been convicted of crimes listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
• Successful completion of State Central Registry background checks.
• Compliance with State Civil Service qualifications.
