Child Protection Officer (P3)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer will join the Child Protection Team within the Policy and Best Practices Service of the Department of Peace Operations. Reporting to the Team Leader, the officer will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of child protection policies across UN peacekeeping missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and disseminate policy and doctrine guiding child protection in peace operations.
• Evaluate the application of policies, gather lessons learned and best practices, and produce analytical reports.
• Support the design, coordination and delivery of standardized training on child protection.
• Maintain strategic cooperation with UN entities and external partners on child protection matters.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualification in law, social work, international relations or a related field.
• Professional experience in child protection, humanitarian or peace‑keeping contexts.
• Familiarity with UN policies, standards and evaluation methodologies.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
