Chief of Staff, IT Business Systems

About the role

ABB's IT Business Systems organization runs the enterprise platforms behind the Electrification business area (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Vistex, Vertex, SAP TMS and adjacent systems) across seven internal domains, serving Finance, Sales, Operations, Logistics and Procurement. This Chief of Staff position reports to the IS Manager and works in a hybrid setup in Cary, NC.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the VP of IT's right hand: run the VP's operating rhythm (weekly leadership meeting, one-to-one agendas, commitment tracker), prepare the VP for key conversations, and act for the VP when they are away.
• Run the hiring engine with HR's Talent Acquisition partners across regions, typically five to ten open requisitions, and own candidates from offer acceptance through onboarding, including the intern program (two to eight interns, twice a year).
• Run three to six monthly business meetings with Finance, Sales, Operations, Logistics and Procurement, and own how the business views the IT team.
• Prepare the VP's presentations and narratives for leadership reviews.
• Run the weekly APT call (business enhancement requests), coordinate across the seven domains so the backlog is sequenced and capacity visible, and keep stakeholders informed of realistic timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related field (MBA or master's preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise business systems, with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA preferred and exposure to Vistex, Vertex, SAP TMS or comparable platforms.
• 5+ years running operational governance in a matrixed environment (intake processes, business reviews, prioritization frameworks).
• Experience managing or co-managing a team or project budget, including variance analysis, forecasting and financial narratives.
• Track record of designing and delivering training programs in a business systems or enterprise IT context.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US; travel under 20%.
