Chief Financial Officer – General Construction

About the role

The company, a privately held commercial general contractor based in Mobile, Alabama, is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will provide financial vision, operational insight, and strategic leadership to support rapid growth from $70M to $100M in revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting, finance, and financial reporting functions.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management, and long‑range financial planning.
• Manage Work‑in‑Progress reporting, job costing, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and performance analysis.
• Direct banking relationships, bonding capacity, insurance programs, audits, and tax coordination.
• Develop financial strategies that enable sustainable growth and operational excellence.
• Partner with executive leadership to improve profitability, operational performance, and business planning.
• Monitor key financial metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting capabilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
• Support strategic initiatives, capital planning, and long‑term business objectives.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in commercial construction.
• Previous experience as CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or equivalent executive finance role for a general contractor.
• Proven ability to translate complex construction finance data into strategic business decisions.
• Strong analytical, communication, and advisory skills for senior leadership.
