Chess Instructor – Fall Session

About the role

Chess Wizards is looking for enthusiastic instructors to lead after‑school chess classes for elementary students in Miami. This part‑time, fall‑season role involves teaching fundamentals, fostering sportsmanship, and ensuring a safe classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead interactive 1.5‑hour chess sessions for 10–15 students, using the provided curriculum.
• Manage classroom behavior, maintain safety protocols, and supervise students during arrival and dismissal.
• Travel to various partner schools, arriving on time and prepared for each class.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in teaching, tutoring, coaching, or camp settings.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between school locations.
• Availability on weekday afternoons (2 PM–5 PM) to teach 1–5 classes per week.

Required skills

• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals, including piece movement, basic strategy, and simple tactics.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and relate chess problem‑solving to real‑life situations.
