Chemical Plant Operator – Wyandotte, MI

About the role

BASF is seeking a Chemical Plant Operator I to join its Wyandotte Resins team. You will work rotating 12‑hour shifts, handling both field and control‑room tasks in a fast‑paced chemical manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Material handling, including big‑bag, truck, and 55‑gallon drum filling.
• Operate drum line, utilities, and tank farm equipment.
• Manage recipes, monitor process control systems, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Perform clean‑up activities and maintain a safe work area.
• Use SCBA equipment and act as a HAZWOPER technician when required.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts (6 am‑6 pm, 6 pm‑6 am) with overtime and night‑shift differential.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift heavy loads.
