Chemical Plant Operator

About the role

We are seeking a Chemical Plant Operator to join our Performance Materials team at the Wyandotte Polyol Plant in Michigan. The role involves operating reactors and associated equipment on a 12‑hour rotating shift, ensuring safety, product quality and efficient production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate DCS, PLC and environmental control systems (pond, scrubber, thermal oxidizer).
• Read, record and interpret data from reactors, tanks, pumps and adjust processes to maintain efficient production.
• Perform routine maintenance such as purges, washes, dries and recharges of equipment.
• Conduct visual inspections and follow shift supervisor instructions, batch sheets and loading sheets.
• Assist with painting, cleanouts, outage support and upkeep of key equipment.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and comply with PPE and respirator facial‑hair policies.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour rotating shifts.

Required skills

• Operation of DCS and PLC systems.
• Understanding of reactor, tank and pump instrumentation.
• Basic maintenance procedures (purging, washing, drying).
• Interpretation of batch and loading documentation.
