Chef, In‑School (No Weekends/Holidays) – Multiple Locations

About the role

The Chef position offers a talented culinary professional the chance to work in a Red Rabbit school kitchen, preparing scratch‑made, culturally relevant meals for hundreds of students each weekday. The role provides stable weekday hours with no nights, weekends or most major holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Culinary execution: develop and prepare recipes, contribute to culturally relevant menus, and deliver consistent, high‑quality meals.
• Food safety & sanitation: maintain a food‑safe kitchen, follow handling, storage, cooking, holding and cleaning procedures, and complete temperature logs.
• Meal presentation & service: plate meals attractively, keep food at the right temperature, and provide a warm service line.
• School community: build positive relationships with students and staff, respond to feedback, and communicate service needs.
• Kitchen organization & administration: organize station, support inventory tracking, minimize waste, and submit daily reports.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional culinary experience in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Strong hands‑on cooking skills and ability to follow recipes consistently.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and reliable follow‑through.
• Comfort using software, apps or spreadsheets for daily reporting.
• Required food‑safety certification for the location or willingness to obtain it.
• Passion for food justice and improving school nutrition.
