Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist

About the role

Renewal Falls Recovery Center, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, is looking for compassionate Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists to join our full‑time team. You will help individuals recovering from substance use disorders and co‑occurring behavioral health challenges build lasting skills and support networks.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and orient new clients, explaining program expectations, schedules, resources, and recovery supports.
• Apply peer‑support principles and lived‑experience insights to foster hope, engagement, self‑advocacy, and recovery.
• Facilitate recovery‑focused educational and psychoeducational groups within the scope of the role.
• Assist with client admissions, complete required documentation, and conduct urine analysis collection.
• Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, and client updates.
• Support clients with Activities of Daily Living, transport to appointments, AA/NA meetings, and recreational activities.
• Provide reception coverage, communicate between clients and staff, and recognize escalating behaviors using de‑escalation techniques.
• Document basic health information (vital signs, weight) when trained, and participate in treatment team meetings.
• Connect clients with community and after‑care resources and uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Current Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential recognized in Iowa or ability to meet certification requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in peer recovery or related support roles.
