Certified Nursing Assistant – Skilled Unit, Georgia Regional Hospital

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants to work on the Skilled Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital in Decatur. This full‑time position provides direct patient care in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with assessing patients' physical and mental condition.
• Support feeding, personal hygiene, grooming, and tube‑feeding as needed.
• Turn and reposition bedridden clients to prevent pressure sores.
• Record vital signs, weight, and specimens according to treatment plans.
• Maintain infection‑control procedures and proper body mechanics.
• Document care activities in patient and unit records.
• Provide training to patients on activities of daily living to promote independence.

Required profile

• Current certification as a Nursing Assistant with the State Aide Registry (NAR).
• At least one year of experience as a Nursing Assistant (or equivalent).
• Completion of a minimum of 24 hours of in‑service education each year to retain certification.
• Ability to pass a state and national background check.

Required skills

• Patient care procedures (feeding, hygiene, repositioning).
• Vital signs measurement and specimen collection.
• Infection control practices.
• Use of proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
