Certified Nursing Assistant – Neurology (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistant to support patients in the Neurology unit. This role offers flexible 12‑hour shifts, including nights and weekends, and provides hands‑on care to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, shaving, and toileting.
• Support meals, feeding, ambulation, turning, and positioning of patients.
• Administer enemas, douches, non‑sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice/heat packs, therapeutic baths, and apply restraints when required.
• Perform urine testing, specimen collection, and post‑mortem care.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Maintain a safe environment, transport patients and equipment, and report conditions to the assigned nurse.
• Measure and record intake/output, vital signs, and assist with patient mobility and exercises.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and ensuring compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• 0–1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize under pressure, and discretion with confidential information.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
