Certified Nursing Assistant – Acute Med‑Surgical

About the role

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides routine patient care and supports clerical and organizational tasks on an acute med‑surgical unit. The role is patient‑focused, ensuring safety, comfort, and efficient unit operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, preparing rooms and ensuring belongings accompany patients.
• Transport stable patients safely and maintain confidentiality during interactions.
• Perform unit‑specific care tasks, monitor patient condition changes, and report promptly to the nurse in charge.
• Maintain clean and stocked patient rooms, manage equipment, and run errands as needed.
• Complete required documentation, respond to call lights and phone calls, and support emergency response.
• Assist licensed personnel in creating a safe, comfortable environment and uphold OneCHRISTUS competencies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous patient‑care experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
• Current CNA license in the state of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Full‑time availability for a 7 AM – 7 PM shift.
