About the role

The Department of Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial at the University of Miami is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (Level 3) to provide direct patient care and support clinical procedures in a culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, procedures, and documentation.
• Perform multi‑skilled tasks such as obtaining vital signs, preparing treatment rooms, and managing medical supplies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, institutional policies, and evidence‑based practices.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, maintaining a safe and compassionate care setting.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team, and seek assistance when needed.

Required profile

• Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of a licensed physician or delegated nurse.
• Commitment to ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice.
